here is some pics from my n/a 5.0. nothing done to it except alot of rpms....notice the connecting rod in the last 2 pics...its twisted

I have heard of spinning a bearing but not a spun piston.
how bad is the block

the block is un usable...the cylinder walls are broken and the cam wont come out....i was thinking about trying to make a fridge out of the old block....its an idea ive always had

the reason the rod looks like that is its not meant for that kinda rpm it got weak and just plain out bent.

How high did you spin it? Ive seen so many 302 lives well past 7K.

The question we need to ask is how looooong did you hold it over 6500rpm,after that on a stock set-up you are asking for it!

i held first gear to around 6500 and then 2nd to about 6800...the flywheel and the clutch were fine...

the block is un usable...the cylinder walls are broken and the cam wont come out....i was thinking about trying to make a fridge out of the old block....its an idea ive always hadlooks like a stress riser crack formed in the area adjacent to the rod broach at high load. as this happened one side of the rod bea, failed and it sheered itself off. as the beam failed it twisted becuase the tension loaded side of the rod had no support.

thats probably exactly what happend...all i know is that right before it died it bucked back and fourth quite violently then just shut down

yea alex that was the orignal motor from dustin...im saving the roush heads for the 347 this winter....:icon_mrgr
