bought some vette wheels

17x8.5 in front

and 18 x9.5 out back


would 255/45/17 and 245/45/18 tires be a nice cmbo on these wheels?

yes, it would be ok,

but I'd probably run some 245/45/17 in front, and 275/40/18 in the back

You want tires with an inflated OD near 25.6 to 26.0".
For the 17" front wheel, look into a P245/45R17 (25.67" OD) and for the rear 18" wheel, look into a P255/40R18 (26.02" OD) or P285/35R18 (25.87" OD).
