WTF does this mean? That if you aren't part of the religious right you can't vote? Last time I checked, every adult citizen could vote, so shut up and vote. And if the person you voted for doesn't win, don't cry about it for 4 fucking years, realize that more of the population wanted them in office, this is how our country works.

I'm not trying to stroke the fire here but did we forget the christian crusades ?? whole generations of people were raised to go fight that war.Secondly whos to say in 5-10 yrs with the christian right becoming ever more miltant in both its stance and polictics that this might not happen. I say look at Islam as the example of what can happen with any form of religion becoming extremist, combining religion with extreme poverty and I'd say fear any religion whos leaders publically call for the assination of world leaders and demand military action against any foriegn country. Both christianity and Islam have radical followers just like every other religion and its these fanatical followers that pose the greatest threat to society.

the best way to fix most of these problems and its has been proven time and time again is to promote education and create economic opourtunity. If the poor the bulk of the people who join these insanity crusades can be pulled up out of poverty they generally tend to shy away from this type of action. But combine poverty and religion and you get a time bomb when the talk turn to action against the wealthy. Most likely the real unspoken motivation of the whole islamic Jihad alot of its followers are poor impovrished people with nothing to loose.

Let's make it simple-the people attacking us now are Islamic Jihad, plain and simple-not Christians,Buddists (sp?),etc. They are doing what the Koran preaches. If you all want to ignore that and try to portray the terrorists as misunderstood then you really don't have a clue. You liberals are quick to attack any and all Christians but apparently flying to planes into a few buildings is okay. Hey you don't like Christains fine whatever. But always bringing up how bad they supposedly are serves no purpose. They're not the ones flying planes into buildings or attacking the US embassy. Here's the difference between Christians and Muslims-if someone blows up an abortion clinic the Christian community does not claim responsibility or praise them for doing it-quite the opposite. Meanwhile did you hear any outrage when the USS Cole was attacked,or the US barracks,or in 1993 when the Trade Center was bombed? You did hear a little after the Trade Center attacks because they knew what was coming-a US attack. It just amazes me people can't see that! What the hell does bringing up something that happened 1500 years ago have to do with now? The motivation the Islamic Jihad is that the US is the enemy. You would think after being attacked by them for like 20 years most could see that. I guess not.

You again blindly choose to not read the post. What I am saying is that we could be confronted with a similar cummunity but christian based. What part of the cult like behaviors of all religions don't you understand. Combine that with POVERTY and people who are desperate and angry and you get Jihad in the Islamic community or something similar in the Christian cummunity. You just choose to be ignorant to the root cuase of the movement. The fact is that although we don't have the long standing depravity in our country like there are in other parts of the world there are some places in this country where the poor are really poor. If let fester we could be faced with a similar movement to Islamic Fascist tanicicty but this time it will be home grown.

Wow I was I was as delusional as you. Where do you get this crap? It's not poverty but thier belief. If they all were rich it wouldn't matter-it's based on their religion/culture! The Iranian govt supports terrorism-they sure as hell aren't poor! I do agree you can get carried away w/ ANY religion-not just Christianity, although that seems to be your favorite target. Your definately starting to grate my nerves. Poverty is what fuels religious fervor. Doesn't require a PHD to figure this out. Look at the people attacking us. They are all from impovrished countrys or they are fighting on behalf of an impovrished country with some sort of heavy handed dictatorship goeverment. Something feeds these poeple to act this way. Mix poverty anger and a healthy does of religous zealotism and bam you get Jihad islam.why is it that you have such a hard time understanding the conditions that feeds this cycle of violence. If these people that wish us harm were happy and living at least a smidgen above poverty and had some contentment in there lives they might not be willing to join up with these movements. Its a complex issue part Idealology and part poverty.

Why is it that some many people have a difficulty understanding what feeds this. The people heading up these cuases are predators looking to take advanatge of the uneducated and poor and desperate.Just look at Afghanistan there is a perfect example of an impovrished breeding ground of hatered.

Again more people highlighting poverty as the root cuase of alot of the problems in countrys like afghanistan. However don;t take this as me saying send the handouts. They key here would be to help these cultures develop sustainable capitalistic driven economies that produced wealth internally. This would require improvements in everything from education etc that would stop the spread of the extremist movement in its tracks. You can't shoot an idea but you can shoot a person who follows it. the problem isn't shooting the followers its that 10 more pop up to replace that follower you just shot.

I agree (read carefully) that ANY religion can be used as a basis to wrong, evil, etc. I disagree w/ you in the fact that we're in the same boat Christianity wise. I am not defending the Jihad. Also at the edges of the chirstian movement in this country there are definately some people bordering on Jihad against there own people. Stop taking it as a personal attack against you. The point I am making is that any religion can turn into what has become of a moderately large portion of the Islamic faith. An anrgy bunch of snakes. Secondly with poverty on the rise in our own country and alot of angry and distruaght people with predatory leaders of questionable ethics its very possiable that there will be a powder keg of some sort if things aren't kept in check. It can happen with almost any religion.

Honestly by deficition I'm a conservatist (not spell checking it). I think the government should be involved in levels of trade, taxes and schooling 100%, but beyond that not at all. Less police, less county/city/township/state to state law differences, less invloved in overseas affairs, legalization and taxtation of currently illegal drugs, increase tariffs on imported goods slowly to make more jobs in america.. I dont know I dont have all the awnsers, nor do i claim to, that's why im not a politician nor do I plan on being.

Although I agree Poverty does give the right conditions for religious extremists to press their will on their followers not all countries or religions are taught that. It is what is taught in their specific religion that makes them "suicide bombers". Suicide is frowned upon in the Christian community and I don't believe that will change. Even though the video said "would you die for Jesus" I don't think that's what they were teaching. I recently took a vacation to one of the poorest countries in Europe and I didn't see one case of "religious fervor" I do agree in the case of Islamic extremism that poverty is the major force be hide all these terrorist activities, but not in every case. I would agree that its not the only variable in the equation but most certianly one of the heaviest hitters. I would question wether or not a similar movement might take hold in the US but i could see it happening in quiet a few poorer countrys. Also again I am stating its is a large contributing factor not the only factor. Some of its is definately a large difference in social values.

Actually that might be more propaganda then truth. There was a large movement during the great deprssion to move towards Communism. There is a detailed history here while greatly downplayed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Party_USA

The country was most likely according to some histrorians less religious then it is now.

However the 21 virgin thing could be seen as an enticement. Funny thing about 21 virigns is that after you have sex 21 times then you don't have anymore virgins. Shit who wants that many virgins anyways ? Appaerently our cultural values do not place priority on the infered purity of virgins but thiers doe's and Wow 21 is a big number. Think of it from your perspective like being promised a billion dollars. Its an enticement. I haven't had time to puruse the Koran in a long time haven't read the bible in a long tiem either but I don't seem to recall seeing that in the modern Koran but it is in older translations which i belive are the major underpinning force of wahabism Islam that is State religion in countrys like our oil rich friends Suadia Arabia. But we don;t seem to do anything about there funding of Hydrassa schools ( i hope i spelled that right ) and the terroist operations that we have intel on.

Yeah and he armed himself and his follower to the teeth did everything possiable to provoke the ATF to make his Prostilization of the future come true and claimed to be Jesus. There were other concerns and the information is pretty sketchy about what went on at that compound.
