We all have opinions of the two candidates. Let's post up facts about each to help others who are 1. too lazy to find stuff, or 2. don't know exactly where to look.

Because some of us work a lot of hours in other states and don't feel like looking up facts on the two candidates in what little free time we have. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Jenny from the block but I don't know enough about DeVos to vote for him.

Although I can say Jenny's comercials about him sending jobs to China are a blatent misrepresentation of the facts. In order to sell in China, you have to produce in China. In my opinion, it should be the same way in this country. We bend over backwards to let those fuckers sell their cheap ass shit in our country and let them shit on us when we try and sell our stuff to them. Not to mention all the piracy we let them get away with. Oh well, back on topic. Tell me what you know about the two candidates.

economy sucks

Roads suck because Engler neglected them for many years. I agree that Jenny hasn't done a whole hell of a lot while in office, but I'm hard pressed to see how DeVos would have done any better.

He is a wimp. When asked what his plan is he stated we need to bring jobs to Michigan. When asked how he repeated himself. He is just another talking head with absolutely nothing to offer. Typical Republican.

How can it be a race? Jenny has done nothing.

But what will Devos bring?

Neither did Kwame and the city of Detroit re-elected him. Unfortunately, they'll do the same for her. :pow:

Frankly that isn't an easy question to answer.

Does anyone else here watch Off The Record (OTR)? It's a PBS show that covers Michigan politics. I watch it every Sunday morning. It's just part of my Sunday routine.

At any rate, a few weeks back DeVos was a guest on the program and had an opportunity to speak at length about his vision and his plan for Michigan.

He didn't have any plan

He said they are working on one, yada yada.

Well, if you are going to take shots at the current administration I think it's only fair to say how you would do better.

There are alot of roadways that still need help, but they have been keeping busy on bridge replacements. Seems like every damn escape route home from work has a lane pinched off due to bridge construction. arrrg...

At least with republicans, you might get some taxes cut. The rest of the state will always go up and down with the auto industry. Engler put a lot of money back into our pockets. Jenny has raised every fee in the state, pulled ahead our property taxes, and stopped an income tax rollback we should have got a couple years back. Get that bitch out of there! I want my cash!

The wonderful things Granholm has done is: She is helping Michigan loose money because of her perminant trailer plate. which was once 45 per year is now 75 once... She brought that dumb "drivers responsibilty fees" we'll fine you 500 for two years because your insurance card is expired but you still have insurance.
Another thing is that mole on her face... That scares the fuck out of me!!!

DeVos is a guy he knows how to make things happen. None of this in 5 years you'll be shocked/speachless.

Can our economy get any worse??? Let's get a man in office. JMO...

Fix this problem and the economy will heal itself.Trying to get help from the goverment in dealing with the trade onslaught from around the world is the part where no one agrees.

I'm not sure I follow your logic.

Instead of spending $45 per year (which adds up quick) you pay $75 one time. That's a huge potential savings.

You are upset that Jenny saved you money? :dontknow:

Amen :badass:
More money in your pocket means more money for you to spend. So your more likely to go out to dinner, buy race parts, etc. Which is good for the economy. More money to the gov. = equals more wasted money.

Not sure why you would think I'm a liberal. I happen to be a fiscal conservative and a social liberal.

You think it was Democrats in Lansing that allowed companies to out source jobs to China?

Where I will fault Democrats is spending. They aren't as bad as Republicans, but the purse strings still aren't nearly tight enough.

No corporate greed, overmortgaging ,outsourcing, tax base loss, piss poor public service management have created these problems.Should i add to the list escalating enegry costs, inflated fuel prices, devualed dollars, and add in the trade deficiet. But the cake topper is that GM and Ford didn't follow the market and kept trying to force sales on SUV's and Light trucks when the car market was booming. How about asking our corporate leaders why they keep making bad decisions and getting bonous's?? How about the issues the never deal with like precieved quality, and the flat boring designs of most domestic cars manufacturers. But mostly NAFTA got the whole ball screaming downhill in a hurry. The corporations figured they could use NAFTA to beat down the prevailing wage and the unions. Its a complex bunchs of issues and most of the reason behind it is greed.

Question: Is this state better off with Granholm then it was with Engler?

That bitch has screwed us at every turn, she has taxed the hell out of everything, put fines on everything else and has done nothing to help this state. Now if I am wrong about any of this, let me know, but I can not think of anything she has done to help this state.

Question: Is this state better off with Granholm then it was with Engler?Engler was almost as equally inept. His legacy is Proposal A that overhauled/lowered the property taxes and raised the sales tax. Yeah, it was great for property taxes but it sure fucked up the schools IMHO. Not only that, but it was an either or proposal. We got to vote for a bad plan or an even worse plan. That is the part that pissed me off the most.

Yeah, I remember that, that was an asshole move. But what I am getting at is I don't remember being able to vote on the drivers responsibility act, or cigarette tax or pretty much anything else we have gotten screwed over by our current governor. And as far as schools go, they need to cut the fat just like all of our other great government services.

I think Engler fucked it up to begin with...Granholm has just taken the reins of this fucked-up state. Electing some guy that is the founder of Amway, which sells products manufactured in China doesn't make him qualified to fix our problems. I think it will just take time for thinks to get rolling here. She is not my favorite person, but we need a better canidate...Mike

She has had time to make improvements..the only thing she improved is the states ability to take money from our pockets. If I have a choice between someone who hasnt done anything good, and someone who may not do any good, im going with the one who may do something.
