They have black history month too, which happens to be in February. Do you bitch and complain when they get their 28 days of commercials and selective programming on TV?

I don't have a problem with people of a different ethnic background, I can't to be quite frank, because african, indonesion, hispanic, and italian doctors saved my life (among others) it's the fact that there has to be a standard that must be upheld in this country that makes it uniquely and soley american, were does that line start and stop??? to be honest, I could'nt tell ya. but why should we comprimise? when and where will it stop or go, it's a question of when america ceases to be american. There are a LOT of Hispanic people spread all over this country, especially in the southern states. It's part of life. You'll have to either learn to adapt, or start your way over to a new country where the only inhabitants of that county are people of that national origin. Good luck finding that!

I was forced to learn Spanish in high school, and if regular tv is going to start playing their shows in Spanish, it is being shoved down my throat. Am I forced to watch Disney? Not at all. It's not about what am I forced to watch. You aren't forced to do a lot of the things you complain about, yet you do complain. The fact is that this is America. It's not Spanish America, it's not British American. We are America. If you think I'm racist for saying that my nephew having to learn Spanish not to better himself in a global economy, but out of necessity is wrong, then so be it.

Ummm... so in your mindset here because we conquered an area and took the land some 200 years ago that we should just make up for it by letting them come in here, make us adapt to their language? That's some really good logic there. Might as well call up Great Britain and tell them we are sorry for fighting for our independence and come on back over, we'll give back the 13 original colonies.

We emigrated into Texas, a Mexican territory. We started to change things. Mexico said stop changing things. American itself did nothing. The American's in Texas asked for Mexico to adapt to the Americans which was shot down (sounds familiar doesn't it... maybe they did something like all the American's in Texas didn't go to work one day and protested in the streets instead). American's revolted, formed their own constitution, started war and we won. Now tell me again how that proves that I am wrong and you are right? Sounds to me like you did a very good job explaining why illegal immigrants need to go, and why us conforming and allowing this to happen is idiotic.

She also understands that what pisses most Americans off about her fellow countrymen in this country (legally or illegally) is that many of them lack the desire to assimilate and love to run around waving the American flag.

BTW - Our kids will grow up bilingual. I can't think of too many situations where having your kid learn more than one language can be a bad thing.

While she is sympathetic their plight (just trying to better their lives), it pisses her off too since we had to spend thousands of dollars and lots of time to get her a green card and she still has to wait four more years to become a citizen.
