A 700R4 is a 700R4 right ?
The reason i question this is i can get one from a 81-83ish ?? IROC Camaro and i need one in my 88 chevy 1500.. the 88 has aprox 350-400 HP engine and i tow with it once and a while. Im just wondering if that car trans is the same as a truck trans.
And is $200 a good price on a used 700 ?

The tailshaft may be different, but the trans is the same. $200 is a good price

83-86 700r4's are the worst transmissions they are the worst of the breed. Absolute junk.the 87-90 trans was a bit better. the latest model trans you could use is the 91-93 camaro and truck trans provided its not An E model they had the best non electronic guts of the series and are called 4l60 the later 4l60E will not work in your application.

The 700R4 didn't come out until 83, right? And didn't they change the # of splines from 27 to 30 in 84/85?

God I haven't had a third gen in forever, I can't remember shit.
