My buddy recently picked up a LT1 Trans Am and bought a CAI for it. There's a little black box that was previously disconnected by the fender. Its got some sort of wires running into it, and the new kit ignores it completely.

His dad claims that there's a sensor of some sort in that box that measures how much air he's getting. Apparently he knows some guy from GM that says it will damage the motor/run poorly.

Any theories? I'm not even sure what sensor is in the box.

The filter pokes down right next to the box which is between the fender and the filter

Ahhh see I was assuming the headlight control (I didn't know thats what it was, previously) had some sort of sensor poking into the old and now unused air intake tubing. Apparently there's no hole or anything else. So its just a nifty place to put the headlight control and keep it cool?

The sensor is the AIT air intake temp
