I need a new TV.
My 3 year old Sony 57" is garbage. :pissed:
I found someone to look at it and I got an estimate of $750.00 to repair it.

I am looking for a 55" or better projection TV. Nothing fancy no LCD or plasmas in my budget.
Thanks,
Andy

Yep. Go to any ABC Warehouse, get the 5 digit inventory number (bottom left of the price tag) of the model you like/want, I'll call one of my boys at the stores they are at, and see how close to wholesale cost I can get you. You might have to drive a bit to a particular store to pay for it, but it will be well worth the money saved. Let me know. I'll probably be able to save you a few hundred.

COSTCO - FTW
I have a 42" LCD for $1500 - http://www.vizioce.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=10
Seriously I had the 37" (bought it 9 months ago) and had an issue with it turning off on its own. Took it back to Costco and they did not have mine anymore and the prices dropped since then so I upgrated to the 42" for the same price!!!! This TV is awesome for the price!!!
I love Costco:icon_mrgr

Actually, I remember ABC as being the holdout for old school projection screens. They had a 60" one in the paper for under $1000.

I was able to get my 46" DLP from ABC for $1300 last year, through research I found out that the MSRP was $1299 at the time.
W2WSS - Both types have their ups and downs, you have to weigh what is more important to you, I would suggest reading this article: http://www.cnet.com.au/tvs/0,239035250,240036500,00.htm

They have a couple of the old style projection tv's for a good price. But they are still 1080i and HD CRT.
I dont mind the older style ones.

for what it's worth an 'old' mitsubishi HD CRT will produce the absolute best picture over LCD, plasma, and DLP.
Also, nothing is broadcast in 1080p right now, but the new HD-DVD's that are coming out (blu-ray|HDDVD) will support this, however, one of those players run about $800 right now.
I bought a 1080i last year, and i'll upgrade to 1080p when a lot more cable stations actually broadcast in that resolution.
i'd say if you watch a lot of movies and plan on getting a ps3 or an hddvd drive, go for a 1080p tv.

I still like my 40" Sony "Tube" better than my 42" LCD

That blows. I've also had very mixed results with Sony products - mainly their DVD players. The question is if you spend $750 will it be whole again.. If so that's probably going to be less expensive then replacing it entirely.

Well, for 750 I can fix it but it is still old technology. I can get a new set with the new technology for about $300 more.
It just does not make sense to put 900 (I have 150.00 in estimate costs as well) into a set thats just about out dated anyway.
I will put the broken one on ebay for parts and hopefully get something for it.

If it wasn't for Viggi, I would step foot in that shit hole chain store. Sale's men act like used car sales guys. 8 guys jump all over you the second you walk into the store.

**not all TV's have crazy mark-up. And if Andy's looking at an "ADV" piece, he's already basically looking at what "cost" is on that *bait and switch* item. But I will do all that I can**
