There are Nitrous and supercharger / turbocharger sections on this board, but there isn't a Naturally Aspirated or All Motor section...I know there is a General tech section but it's just not the same. It would be nice to have an N/A section for those of us that choose to go that route. I am not sure that there is a need for such a section on this board but I know on others like it there are. I was just thinking it might help to broaden the depth of topics available on this board.

Right, but that is my point. This board is cool and all, but it could lend itself to a more technical base rather than just a place for talking about what party you are going to, or what job you got, or who you're bangin', or what ever the hell else everyone talks about on here. The fact that you are having to go to other places for insight sucks. I think there are plenty of guys on here with the knowledge to help with stuff like yours but due to there not being a section dedicated to it, I think, like yourself, others just go else where, so the topics are never even discussed.

I will get flamed for this but this is almost purely a Mustang site and a BBC Chevelle question is foreign to most here (not all, but most). That is cool, as I love this site, for what it is....

But I think a section like this would be beneficial to this board.

I run both
all motor and N20
how about a 12,11,10,and 9 second club

The main reason for the Juice and FI sections is people will blow their shit up if they don't share some info. Too many noobs out their need some help with the new fangled FI toys and still plenty of mentoring needed with the giggle gas. :)
It's a wee bit harder to do that N/A so it fits fine in the general section at this point.

I know the club is for everyone and that is great but having something extra that is a little more exclusive could be cool too.
Then again, I drive like a girl. I'll probably miss a gear, screw up the launch, or something equally embarassing every race this summer and never make it past the 14s. :dontknow:

It's not so much a matter of blowing stuff up, it's the fact that there are people that are running N/A or would like to run N/A and since there is not a dedicated section here for it, they go else where for their information. I was turned on to this site by some friends and like I said its a cool deal, but the next level of seriousness, or technical experience is either hidden or non-existant. I know several people that frequent this board, and I know that there are plenty on intelligent, experienced racers on here, so the thought of the experience being non-existant isn't an issue. But for someone that doesn't know this, it would be very easy for them to just walk away or find the insight somewhere else. I was just thinking that a dedicated N/A section would be of some value to this board and its members. Seeing how there is 1 post in the forced induction section and 2 posts in the N20 section, it doesn't seem like there are many people concerned with their stuff replicating a grenade. So the only conlcusion I can get from this is that there may be more people attempting to run N/A than may be assumed. An 8000+ RPM small block can be a ticking time-bomb as well given the wrong parts or bad tune..
This thread was started to give some input and make a suggestion. I am done now.

If funds would allow it I would use a VP fuel in it. It will likely make more power, and they offer a fuel called CMP which is oxygenated (same thing as DRT, that the ALL-Motor classes are using with a lower octane rating). Either C12 or CMP would work better IMO. Plus Turbo Blue is a dirty fuel. CMP is suppposed to be worth approximately a 3% gain in HP. I know I will be running it this year.

The C12 runs about $47-50 per 5 gal pail, and CMP is supposed to be around $60 per 5 gal pail. I have had conversations with not only the VP reps themselves but also people are using currently, and they all seem to agree that the 3% or so gains are realistic. A buddy of mine had his engine dyno'd recently and it made just a tick over 1000 HP with C12, and with CMP it made 1030. I will definately be using CMP this spring, seeing how without a power adder any extra HP is welcomed, especially at only a dollar or so more per gallon.
For what its worth, I ran C12 last year with 13:1, and I was low on fuel one time so I put some turbo blue in it...That will never happen again, as my plugs were all phucked up after about 10 minutes of run time, and on top of that when I cut it off at the big end to read the plugs they were so nasty looking that I couldn't begin to make a judgment on the jetting.
This year the engine has 14:1 so I have a couple more options for fuels, but I still think CMP is the way to go.

If you notice how few posts are in the tech sections IDK why you would ask for this. I think your could probably funnel the tech sections all into one area and call it good. Few people look at/post in the tech sections around here.

Gotta admit I didn't follow the chicken / egg bit either, but this statement make sense and is true. Which is exactly why I suggested a dedicated All Motor Section. This way people who are serious about it down the track the hard way can have a place to ask questions or supply information about what they have tried and what worked. Part of the problem is a lot of people on here are into street racing and I don't think they want to give away any "secrets". But me personally, I am not into that shit and never will be, so if someone wants to know something I am always willing to help in any way I can.

I dont think street racers have anything to do with it, if anything I find it to be the other way around, but it varies all the time. Seems to me most people come here to B.S. and so fourth. I joined yellowbullet for the tech and have learned a lot.

I don't believe in keeping secrets either. It is counterproductive to the spirit of the concept of this board, which is that people with a common hobby come together.
I second the creation of an all motor forum. It's really not an easy thing to get down the track on motor alone...

I wonder if I would see a 3% or greater gain when I sprayed it? I was running -93 octane and 110 when I sprayed it-but that was with the pump-gas motor I had. This one is gonna be a different animal all together.

Well, I can tell you this..If I was into street racing, I would not be helping anyone, I mean, what for, I would want every possible advantage and the last thing I would want to do is give someone information on something that is helping me keep that advantage. But since I am not into street racing, I am willing to help anyone that needs it.

CMP is not for nitrous engines. It is designed for N/A applications with less than 14:1 / less than 8500 RPM. Over 8500 RPM or greater than 14:1, they recommend DRT for N/A applications. I'm not one to use N20, but have several friends that run the drag radial class with it, and they are running C16 with engines around 12.5 to 13 to 1.

Here is a good question to start off with. How much timing do you guys run? Anyone lock out their timing? I got a stock DIST thats been locked out and a MSD that's not, I had my last motor locked out @ 37 Degrees and the car ran hard but was a bitch to start (No timing retard) I wonder because I want to use the msd (I spent the money I might aswell use it)
MY motor is around 11.5.1 compression with the Alum heads.

My timing is locked out at 36 degrees (347, 14 to 1). I would suggest that if you are going to lock timing, get a start re-tard, or go to a newer ignition (digital 6 or 7) that already has a start-retard built in. Every engine is different and you'll have to find the timing where the engine is happy. Too much can slow it down as well.

I put a switch on my car so I can turn the ignition off, let the engine crank for 2 seconds then turn the ignition on, works everytime. Mine is normally locked out around 36 also.
