I was running the stock shorties with the ball and socket design for two years. I decided to switch to ford racing headers and now the ball and sockets leak like a champ. I can't really change the socket so what do I do? Can a bead of RTV really hold up to the pressures on the exhaust side? Any other suggestions besides redoing my whole kit with v-bands

I can't see any RTV holding up to that sort of pressure. V-bands are the next logical step (and will make it easy for assembly/disassembly).

on my 99 it has a ball & socket fit ont he dirvers side the leaked like hell, i figured out that it was because the studs didnt match up to my x pipe flange ver well so i took the studs out and ran skinnier bolts through the holes and was able to make it work and seal up. Its worth a shot.

OK, I put a x-pipe up this weekend and had the same problem! Luckily i had some old lead donuts in the garage! I had a lead peace designed for this problem that is 1/2in thick and it worked like a charm. I have 1 left! If you want it shoot me a e_mail @ mustang_maniac_3@hotmail.com If you need it ill let you have it. really its a 20 minute fix! let me know.

Thanks for the offer but I would need two. That's a good idea though. I already ordered a new hot side kit so I'm throwing my DIY kit away..
