Vortech belt length [Archive]

On my LT1 vortech setup, I have the engine on a test stand and got a new belt (NAPA belt) and with the Ford tensioner pulley it came with, the belt is deflected to about 1" from the other side. How much room here is acceptable? I thik this belt is too long myself. Anyone??

Yeah, next time I'm out there I will. I think the adjuster has reached it's limit as well....

You kind of want the tensioner at its limit but not toatlly at its limit. 1 inch of tensioner slack seems to work really well.

If the belt is to loose/tight it will throw belts

Measure the Desired length with a String and go to auto parts Store...
