This may sound weird but I have 10 wheels and tires all mounted 8 tires need to be swapped around 4 of them mounted and balanced 4 just mounted for rollers and 2 just dismounted. I know it kinda sounds like a math equation from middle school so here goes. Who can do this for me and How much money will this cost?

You dont want to know what Discount quoted me for something that will take no more than 45 min to do. I used to swap tires over at my old job and this job would take me a little over half an hour.

It has to be worth their time.

So they want to charge me $150 for some 19 yr old kid to mount and balance some tires. I know the machines cost money but seriously if he does the job in 30 min thats $300 an hour. Think about it ASE certified mechanics only charge about $70 an hr for their time. I didnt know a 19 yr old kids time was worth $300 an hr.

I thought this was the LOOKING FOR HOOKUPS section not the NON HELPFUL REMARKS FROM MORONS LIKE YOURSELF section. And I wasnt bitching I was comparing labor hours for work done and I thought it was to much, which was just my opinion.

Go to Walmart, its like $5-$8 a tire. So you'd be out like $40 or so.

The reason you were quoted so much is because you aren't buying anything from them. I work at discount and we get stuff like this all the time. If we charged you 2 bucks a piece to dismount and remount and 10 a piece to balance, we wouldn't be making hardly anything on that deal. And you aren't buying tires and/or wheels/ units which is how i get paid. How much I make and my hours are based on UPMH (Units Per Man Hour). Why spend 20-30 minutes doing your job, when we can put 4 new tires on someone's car in 15 minutes, make more money, make the customer happy, and lock in a returning buyer. You also have to take into consideration how busy it is. We work on a pretty high volume of vehicles in a day and some take longer than others. If you walked in lets say first thing at 8am, i could do it myself in less than 20 minutes. As was said before, we have to make it worth our time. I'm sorry to hear you feel that way about discount, but you have to take all things into consideration. PM me if you decide you want to go through discount again and have some 20yr old kid do the job

I see where your coming from I didnt look at it that way since I dont work there and know how the shop runs. You said you could do it in 20min well I think $150 made in 20min is more than worth anybodys time.

Its all good now I found a tire shop thats actually right down the street from me, Tire 1. They hooked me up and gave me a great deal.

It's cool. I understand. I dont work up front and I know some of those guys quote some ridiculous prices. All depends on how busy it is and what mood the boss is in

I guess I had it easy before I had a buddy that worked there and he would only charge me $4 a tire mounted and balanced. I dont mind paying full price for something I just started this thread to see if someone could hook me up and I would bring all my work to them and vise versa. I used to have contacts here and there and we all would do favors for each other but Ive lost most of my contacts from career changes to moving out of the state.
