Something needs to be figured out here... Fast... People can't recommend experiences or feelings now towards shops/stores/whatever?
I'm sorry but that's wrong and something needs to be figured out... I sponsored this board to help members out and to offer a service... Not to tell people either my way or the highway...

According to Trunk you can't even speak of the shop/store/whatever... That's just wrong... PERIOD...

Advertising
Only paying sponsors will be allowed to advertise automotive related products, group purchases and services on the Club's board. Individuals or companies that would like to advertise on the Club's board should contact Matt Stanford a.k.a 91trunk, Sponsorship Director, to discuss our sponsorship programs.
Moderators will review questionable posts that appear to have advertising content from non-sponsors and will lock these posts and move them to the Moderator Forum for documentation purposes.
Signatures that identify shops, people and groups that have assisted you in achieving your goals for your car, truck or bike project are acceptable. Take pride in your project and those that help you. Keep them short and to the point. The signature is intended to be an informal method for you to share your experiences with other users that may be considering using the same resources for their project.
If you are asked by a Moderator to adjust your signature to remove advertising info (contact information for non-sponsors would be an example), please do so promptly.

they pay for sponsership, yes i respect that, if you have a problem with a sponser get it figured out in a pm or a respectfull way.
but i also paied money to be a club member, so if i want to post bad or good experiance with a sponser then i should be able to. Just because i may have a good experiance with tuner "a" (non sponsered) Does not mean that Tuner "b" (sponsered) is bad.

Well, to start off, we had this same problem with another board I frequent. The main problem is the fact that people can express their dealings about the sponsors (both good and bad in the lounge/pub).
Bad ones get deleted, and the good ones aren't always agreed with. In order to solve this problem, we created vendor forums. In these forums people can ask questions about products/services, give reviews, and solve problems. We designated a representative for each sponsor to moderate their OWN forum. This takes away the troubles from the moderators, and they don't get involved because the sponsors handle it themselves.
So far this has worked pretty good and the sponsors advertise in their own forum, and take care of their issues in their own forum.
Just some 2 cents from having experienced this, and knowing what goes on.

And, i am on other mustang boards here and there, i dont see it as a problem over there posting a sponser or a non sponsered part/tuner what ever. Only difference is its a national board.

I mean i am pretty new to this scene. And i should have the right to learn about good/bad sponsered/non-sponsered opinions to help myself learn.
That last thread that got deleated, after it was gone, i took it to PM with someone and learned what his experiance was. It was with a sponser. It wasnt good. So i would have liked to know both sides of the story so i dont judge.

I used to just delete non-sponsor contact information and tell them to take that info to PM's. As long as it is not bashing, discussing local shops is the same as discussing the local racing scene to me. But it is not my call anymore.

What is there to discuss?? This really isn't a new concept at all. We've been doing this for a long time now, and nothing has really changed in regards to sponsor/no-sponsor posting.

I guess I'm confused then. What reason would a business have to sponsor the board if they can get free plugs all day long? I was doing just fine getting free plugs before I sponsored the board, but there also wasn't a Ford dealer here either.

its not free plugs. if you had a good relationship and dealing with somebody then you should be able to post them not a problem. its not a commercial on tv, the only people who are gonna read it are the people interested in that post, they should be able to hear everybody opinion. if the sponsor has something to add then they can. let them back up what they did. if i fucked up somebody chimney and they posted bad shit on me its up to me to make it right. let the sponsor back themselves up.

I hear you, but wouldn't you be pissed if there was another mason on here and he did good work too, and people were always posting what a great job he does and give him a call? You paid for sponsorship and he didn't, why would you pay the money to sponsor if that was the case?

Then as a business owner you need to step back and go look on why people are doing that then... It's up to the owner to make the company's reputation and keep it up to good standards... It's about competition and it's making sure you're doing what is right...
I became a sponsor to help people out and run a business... If I get competition on here... Great... Bring it... I'm not scared nor will I be worried...
But when people want to talk about experiences and how they were treated or who they thought was a good experience... Awesome... Let them talk... But when people can't talk about it... What's the point then of even asking on this website then? To see you have these people here or nobody??? That's not right... We came to this site for one main reason... We're car enthusiasts that wanted to come to a place that we can talk, research, and discuss everything car related and not... Even if that does include the sponsors or doesn't...

there are other masons on this board and i have lost jobs to them. i can only hope that i do people right and give them a positive experience so they refer people to me. that is how i get most of my work is from word of mouth. i became a sponsor just so more people would see my name and hope to get more work. but just cause i became a sponsor doesnt mean i am the best mason in the world(although i really am, LOL). but i also know that its a competitive business and people usually go to whoever is cheaper. if i can match the next persons price then i lose the job. i just tell them when i have to fix it its gonna be double. you get what you pay for.
same goes with tuners. i hear good and bad from every tuner around. i can tell you cars lidio blew up, i can tell you ones livernois blew up, i heard bad and good stuff from sean at cars. i heard good stuff from walsh. i have had great experiences with dan at livernois so even if he was not a sponsor i would still go to him if i needed a tune or was to refer somebody to him. so if dans sposorship ran out today and somebody asked about a tuner i would be able to refer them to him or give him props? lidio just became again didnt he? but people still talked about him all the time.

It is really a fine line Matt. In the past, I have let posts go that users keep bumping up. It's obviously that they are just trying to get free advertising, so when it becomes blatent you have to lock it. You just have to use your judgement, and try to let people discuss all the local shops without letting it turn into a commercial.

Newb mods=repeat situations lol jk. I know as a whole, we'll never make everyone happy but we try to do our best guys!!! If it was up to me, we'd only allow sponsor info and that'd be it. but keeping contact info outta the posts for non-sponsors is pretty much the line
This has been a pet peeve of mine too. Although I see I'm not a sponsor anymore (gosh 3 whole days late with my payment... thanks trunk) I never sponsored this board to make money. I sponsored it because I liked the club and enjoyed hanging out at Woodward and what not.
Lately with all the racist bullshit from 'Red I hate America, Jews are evil and Libya is the greatest place on earth even thought I don't speak the language ' Xtcy, the LS1Tech type lets coddle the sponsors by deleting anything they might not like and the general this is a Mustang site now I don't think I'll bother anymore.

it seems as tho the guidelines are a little fuzzy for new mods. weather this is the new mods, old mods, or clubs fault it's nice to have the previous mods ideas transfered over if they're how the club should be ran..
it's great to hear all about the sponsers, but not allowing people to talk about other companies is rather 'nazi-ish' and didnt realize MM was into that.
it looks like it will stay how it was, so thanks for clearing all of that up guys...
