First off its a 97 cobra,430 rear gears,I got a vortech v1 s/trim off of smooth like a year ago.
Its got a gt impeller with a 3.33 pulley, 42lb injectors, 90mm mass air. Now my ? is should I put this preaty nice air cooler I have on the car?? the car isnt going to be a daily driver & wont go on any long trips, mostly woodward stuff.
Im fighting myself on what to do.
thanks
Dave.

If running low boost I wouldn't bother. If running high boost, I'd just run race fuel and still not bother. Just my opinion though.
Some of those a/a front mounts don't flow enough air to do much good...you can actually slow the car down if you don't pulley up.

im using that same intercooler, its a very inexpensive unit but works. if you have it already why not use it?
it works great for me even at 14lbs. dropped my intake temps a LOT so i could run much more timing and its with a much safer tune.
do a search on here with my name and youll see my install and reviews.

It should be @ 10 or 12 lbs of boost before the intercooler install.
I was thinking about race gas. I hear good things about running intercoolers
but this thing weighs like 25 pounds its heavy.

A good front mount will drop the intake temps by a ton. Cheap ones will just hurt the over all numbers. Front mounts are also nice seeing how they don't get heat soaked like a water to air, or a top mount. Which is a very nice thing on a more street driven car.

the one above is the cxracing/xspower brands which are very inexpensive, however my xs-power intercooler works very well. lowered intake temps a lot and the pressure drop was minimal given the gains overall.
again, i vote use it since you have it.

i'm using a similar unit on my car. others (JTCStrat) is running the same on his S-trim stang. and (GPowrie) had a similar one on his old turbo cobra. they work well and can be installed on a mustang rather easily
I put that same intercooler on SSspdmn's cars and there was one on Gpowries car and I have more then 10 of them in service as of right now. While inexspensive they do work and we have seen them support around 800+ HP very reliably. They are not the best quality but they really work and do not seem to be fialure prone.
All of that was at around 15-30 psi of boost with no fialures to date. That monster fits fiarly well on the sn95 cars.

I found your old thread & I gotta say I like how you mounted it!
I was just gonna cut into my bumper bar, your way looks like much less work!

yeah it was simple to mount, nothing to it really. no cutting of any brackets at all.

So if I use the intercooler I need to reclock the head unit. How do I rerun the
the oil feed & drain lines, I see a bunch of brass plugs in the head unit for the lines?

when you clock it you just move the volute, not the housing. so no, you wont have to move any lines

ooooooohhhh duh! Im new to all of this. Anyone have any sn95 intercooler pics?
I left a message with Alternative to set up an appointment today, I wanted to see how they want the car when I drop it off for the tune. No call back yet, anybody know a good way to get a hold of them?

I run the same one, it will make a big difference in how aggressive you can tune on pump gas. like sean said, I've seen them work well up to ~800hp.
I can get ya in whenever you want. Just call us
