Not being too picky about brands, but would like something that I could carry. Perhaps a 3-4 inch. I haven't seen that many compact 1911s and I'm sure I'm probably not looking hard enough, but if you have anything let me know.

1911's have a lot of history behind them, Military used them for years. Alot of the current semi's come from revisions on the 1911. Why have a copy or revision of the original, get a 1911 and be done with it

I've got a Colt Commander lightweight, don't carry cause I'd hate to use it and lose it, I've got the Glock or S&W's for that.

And if it does fail good luck getting them to fix it ;)

Approximately $1000. Yeah, that is the thing I'm having issues with. 1911s are expensive, to me at least.

Please go into further detail. I was actually thinking about doing a Kimber Ultra Carry 2.

If you have some usefull input feel free to share it.

He has some very valid issues with Kimber but dont automatically fall into all the bad you hear about them. I have an Ultra and a Pro that are flawless.

Hoorah for new guns anyway:cheers:

Cory just get an xd if thats what your allready looking at. A 1911 is a beautiful gun with a lot of history but for concealed carry they can be heavy.

I have an XD40 and love the thing, I will end up buying a 1911 because i have always liked them. For practicality get the xd or a similar gun.

Thats just my .02.
