You failed as a parent to begin with if it got to this point
If your dad doesn't teach you anything, the state will... Timeout is jail... grounded is prison.
Laying the responsibility at the feet of the parents is really the only
answer we can give and should.
Having said that, there have been also many kids that have made some
very poor & dangerous decisions about life, despite the fact that they
*should* have known better and were indeed raised in a home that
provided & taught better.
10 years old and already a burden to society. Probably won't be the last time he is in the back of a police car. Wagering mom was never in the running for mother of the year.
"OnStar remotely disabled it, causing it to slowly cruise to a stop and collide with a guardrail near the 135-mile marker, Vetter said. The impact cause minor damage to the vehicle.
With the Encore stopped, the boy exited it and ran into some nearby woods, Vetter said. Troopers ran after him and caught him shortly thereafter.
The boy, who stands under 5 feet tall, told police he had taken his mother's car in hopes of driving to see her in Detroit, Vetter said. The boy had apparently been staying with relatives just prior."
They probably shouldn't let their ten year old play Grand Theft Auto anymore....

Reminds me I need to rip the OnStar module out of my GM cars.
The problem is making sure they understand what's OK in a game isn't OK in real life. Stealing, Shooting, Fighting and Overall being a problem to society all should be taught that you can't do in real life. But clearly these parents weren't interested in helping their child. They're probably a debt to society themselves.
