Chassis Saver is all you need...
Stuff looks interesting, but wrong for my application. I need something suited for OEM restorations. So far I've been thumbing through the Eastwood catalog. I haven't visited the local painter's supply.
What exactly are you trying to do?
1st attempt at restoring an early '60s Ford to OEM specs, not a concourse restoration, but a "good faith" OEM-inspired restoration. Emphasis is getting the various colors accurate.
Heavy rust repair is not necessary. I need to strip the frame, clean up the surface rust, then begin painting.
Eastwood, Extreme Chassis Black (Satin) has a close sheen to OEM. Shoot the rear axle as well with it. It's epoxy based (premixed), so the durability is there. I believe you can spray it on bare metal or self etching primer. I personally would prime it with a self etching (high zinc) then spray the Eastwood over it.
For my mustang (unibody), I'm blasting it - spraying self-etching primer, and then going with PPG-DPLF epoxy primer for the body (blue) then topcoat.

Chassis Saver I've heard works well.
I have experience with POR15 and that works good too. It's hard as a rock and is available in high gloss black, flat black, clear, grey, and silver.
