It does seem to help!
It takes time to build up, but it seems once you do,
you feel bad if you don't ride that day.
You are doing great, you are consistent, if you weren't, you
wouldn't be getting anywhere. Remember, it took me years
to get where I'm at, but I'm old!
Yeah it’s just a family activity for now.
Did just under 4 miles today, but I forgot to start the Strava app beforehand so I’m not sure exact mileage. Let’s try a pic...

^^^ Sweet!!!
Love the color of your bike!
Thanks, me too. It's very visible.
I still have yet to get it on a legit offroad trail. I've been doing more dirt roads or paved trails than I thought I would. I think my next bike will be more of a hybrid type.
Two thoughts;
I always thought I would be doing more offroad trail biking, the more I rode,
the more I discovered I really liked the paved roads & trails. Not saying
this would be you, just don't be surprised if it is.
My bike is a "hybrid type", of sorts, which is to say, my bike is a
mountain bike, with 100 psi road slicks. These tires completely
change the feel & ride experience of your current "mountain bike".
The ones I use (they come in many colors) are the Kenda Kwest. They fit
on your current rims...

These tires are good for about 2,000 to 3,000 miles. I have read others
have gotten about 4,000 miles out of them, but I wouldn't recommend
that.
One word of caution, as these tires wear, they don't like wet pavement. Which
really isn't much of a problem, since we really shouldn't be riding in the rain!
Going to be a great weekend for riding!

I may end up with different tires at some point (but mine are 27.5s). I'll be in the Petoskey area for a trip, going to ride the wheel way and maybe some trails while up there. If I can get out solo, I'd like to do a 15-20 mile ride.
