I was feeling a little sick today, pushed myself out the door
and really glad I did. I some how racked up 34.11 miles today.
This photo is at my friends house. It is a former home to the
Cabela's family.

Going back to Florida? Should hit the hill in that video!
Those mountains are for tough guys........not me
I'm actually getting a little tired!
My summer allergies have kicked in! I'm trying
to get in all the mileage I can right now, looks
like my schedule (life!) will be changing soon.
Everything ok?
Where have you been riding to? My new bike should be here next week. Been quite awhile since I’ve had a bike.
Normally I ride to either Milan or Dundee (I live between the two).
Sometimes I'll ride out to Tecumseh. I usually ride a large loop.
What bike you getting? What kind of ridding are you looking to
do?
Let me know when you're ridding, I'd be happy to show you
some of my Milan areas that I ride.
I'm big on the safety gear (don't like the idea of getting hit!).
At a minimum, I was a hi-visibility helmet with rear-view mirror
and a hi-visibility vest or clothing. This gear is a must!
Buy a helmet, if nothing else to be able to use this...

You can't believe how much more enjoyable a ride is when you
don't have to keep trying to turn around to see what is behind
you. It's like driving a car with no rear-view mirrors.
I would also recommend a speedo / odometer, you can buy
one at Wal-Mart for under $15. or use a phone app. I purchased
a bike phone holder at Wal-Mart that works great.
I have an extra new vest I'd give you if you think you would
wear it (different than the photo).

Thanks! I bought a Diamondback Overdrive. I’ll probably ride some dirt roads near me in Saline, occasionally may go to the new dnr trails in Chelsea. I do have a helmet, must have! I’ll let ya know on the vest, I have some brighter colored shirts I plan to wear. I appreciate the offer.
Any advice on apps for distance? I don’t plan to put a ton of miles on every ride like you do. I’d have bought a different style bike for sure if I had. It would be nice to know how far I’ve ridden each time though.
Years ago, in 8th grade, I rode my BMX bike from Milan to Saline, and back. Not very comfortable!
Ok, I see, you're an "off-roader" guy! I pretty much stick to the hard trails,
you'll get more of a workout on those soft trails.
I'm getting ready to add a biking app. I have two friends who use them,
I'll report back what I come up with. I would say that I would join you on
the off-road trail, but I sold my other bike this past Spring because I
just didn't use it, she was nice...

Nice bike!
You’re killing the mileage.
Thanks, I’ll have to get the Strava app now!
I have run both at the same time just to compare how they are against each other and they are very consistent. I like they they track mph, elevation, and distance. They also go into more of a break down with times per mile and such but those are the two that I have liked best.
When we went to Traverse City a few weeks ago we took our bikes and camped. We rode our bikes everywhere with the trail they had straight from the camp ground. This is not a long distance ride for us but it saved driving and finding a spot to park. We rode our bikes to the end of the kayak brewery tour we did and were able to just jump on the bikes and head back to the camp ground afterwards. Attachment 83898
Very cool stuff you guys, please keep me posted
on the progress of these apps.
Looks like I'll need to turn yet another technology
chapter in my life!
