its very helpful, especially if you are NOT shooting at like F/10 or higher.
I always shoot single focus point. Once i got used to it it just comes as very natural now.
Its even more helpful in the photojournalism line of work. Things happen very very fast and you really have to be ready. Sometimes the subject im shooting will all of a sudden move to the left real quick and if your not fast with focus points...now she is blurred out and you can see some nice trees in the background...haha
