Removing exhaust manifold bolts. Impact or breaker?

I need to replace the passenger side exhaust manifold gasket on my 99 Explorer 5.0. Two bolts have been replaced by me in the past (stock ones loosened up and fell out) so I know they will come out with no problems. The others looks to be in decent shape still. There's only one stud that looks pretty rusted and corroded that I'm afraid will break.

Any tips to minimize me pulling my hair out lol.

I bought a can of Aerokroil to soak the bolts in before I attack them. Ive read that impacts are better than a breaker bar on rusted bolts. Should I heat them up with my mapp gas torch or take the truck for a drive before I try to take them out?

An impact is better at getting a rusted bolt out but it is also a sure fire way to snap them off. I would soak them with PB Blaster etc and use hand tools.

edit: $400 for that thing, god damn! Looks like its worth it though.

That inductor looks awesome, but their video never showed anybody actually removing something.

Does it work great? Or?

Works freaking amazing. I would buy one for myself personally if I worked on more stuff more regularly. Just can't justify it for how much I would use it. And we convinced my manager that we need one for removing press fit pulleys on our test equipment so I just use that when I need one. :icon_cool

Well, big stuff might also need some assistance with a torch. The model my work bought which I believe is the one linked above has a heat cycle of only like 2-3 minutes or something like that. Smaller stuff works great though

I have the mini ductor will make a 3/4 bolt change color and smoke in under a minute, funny thing since I bought it I haven't run into a single frozen bolt��
