I'm 99.999999% 79-98 8.8" axle housings are the same width. 99-04 are the years the housings are wider. They are the same part numbers from Ford Racing (79-98).

'86-'98 8.8" housings are the same. '99-'04 8.8" housings are wider and they have larger bolt holes for the LCA's.

    my question is

How or why do you need to relocate the disc brake bracket on a early sn95 housing for the fox length axles?

To run the SN95 rear brakes (Cobra or V6/GT) on a Fox you either need '94-'98 axles and stock brackets, Fox length axles and North Race Cars brackets, or Fox length axles and modified stock brackets.

Any of the three options will work. My choice is modified brackets and Fox length axles. SN95 axles will limit your maximum wheel width to 8" and NRC brackets cost $150.

Let me know if you have any more questions. I did a detailed write-up on the bracket modification on FEP and I think it was also copied onto the Corral.
