After many hours of trimming and drilling holes the Percy's Speedglass Lexan Hatch fits pretty dang nice:

One thing that always pisses me off about Camaro's is exhaust systems that drag the ground, even stock.

Goals for my exhaust:

1) ground clearance - incase I ever want to slam this car even more
2) light weight - I'm a feak about weight
3) Stainless steel - better heat retention (keeps the exhaust hot and flowing, and help keep the inside of the car from getting hot)
4) Stainless steel - looks bitchin, no paint or coating required








All tubing is 3" 304 SS, I ended up getting good deals on it all so I didn't spend too much more than mild steel. Just spent quite a bit more time getting the joints nicer and TIG welding with back purging. Trans is spaced up 0.5" to help with clearance to the pipe that runs under - after looking at these pics it makes me think that wasn't necessary.

Spintech 3.5" muffler with the inlet cap chopped of and a new one fabbed up:


I didn't plan on doing this, but I had to notch the frame rail to avoid the slip yoke:

Final weight for the complete system ended up at 22 lbs, the muffler itself was 13 lbs before I modified it. The Edelbrock y-pipe and Cat Delete that I took off the car weighed 19 lbs and unfortunately I forgot to weigh the cat-back before I got rid of it. I'm guessing this saved about 30 lbs.

Thanks to Quasar for his help hauling the car out.

Keith needs 5-6 weeks to make it look purty, that will give me time to make the instrument cluster, finish the engine accessory mounting, new breather system and catch can for the engine, move the Jerico shifter back 2.375", paint the edges of the lexan and various other fabricated parts, maybe start working on wiring in a new turn signal etc.

Old picture. In case Keith is still wondering how or if this thing fits together, here is proof. Aluminum decklid that I made from a piece of 0.065" thick 6061-T6, held in place with Dzus fasteners, which BTW are a pain in the ass to get lined up. Must have had this decklid on and off 20x in the process.

Not as sexy as a big race car wing (what I really want, and no, not the ricer version) but still very effect is the spoiler made from a piece of lexan (needs to be see-through to have a functional rear-view mirror).

The lexan hatch + aluminum decklid project saved 73 lbs.

Thanks! I fully plan on driving it on the street. In fact, my wife recently got me this for our 2yr:

she's a sweatheart, stood in line at the SoS and everything!
