So could the dnr explain that to me why there were so many if they are supposed to be wiped out??? I think salmon stocking is exspensive so they cut back so they could make more $$$$$ and see how the natural reproduction works out well it hasnt and people are getting pissed off including me.
In almost every instance where a government based operation like the DNR has stopped stocking, the natural population has boomed and its better for the species, and the anglers. Hopefully this will be the case here also.

I'll be out on the Clinton this weekend. Conditions should be optimal. Water temp is about 64 right now, turbidity is down, and the flow rate is up. Looking like it'll be a good one!

Anyone had any luck in SE MI? I was out in Lake Huron yesterday dragging a mess of spoons and bombers for hours with no luck.

I had a car show this weekend so I didn't make it out.
Next weekend I have Disney on Ice with my daughter

Seems if they are running in the rivers, I'm missing them this year

Water is still low on the west side of the state, but the steel head are moving up. Had a great day swinging flies for them yesterday.

It's THAT time again. I'll be on the pere marquette river for the next 3 weekends.
Have a river charter on Oct 8

The numbers have been up in the great lakes, hopefully this downward spiral of salmon population is reversing and they flood the rivers.

They're already in the PM. That water is almost unfishable right now with all the asshole snaggers.

We're at the lowest number of alewives since sampling began. The DNR is continuing to decrease Salmon stocking, and increase Lake Trout stocking as well as other specie. The majority of salmon returning to the rivers is now a naturally reproducing population.

With the DNR making chumming illegal for steelhead, it's great news for those of us who actually fish and not just snag fish off their beds or chum.

How far up the PM river are the beds?
