    From the DNR:

Stocking numbers for Chinook salmon and lake trout will see adjustments in 2017 and 2018 respectfully, following the recommendations of the Lake Michigan Committee. The following adjustments will take place to help reduce the predation pressure on alewives in Lake Michigan. Chinook salmon stocking will be reduced by 46 percent going into 2017 (compared to 2016 stocking numbers). Along with this adjustment, Michigan will phase out lake trout stocking in Lake Michigan and adjust those efforts to rearing and stocking steelhead. Michigan will continue to stock 1.57 million coho salmon, 580,000 steelhead and 550,000 brown trout to maintain a diverse fishery. It should be noted that roughly 60 percent of Lake Michigan’s Chinook are wild, coming from Michigan’s rivers and streams. More information on salmon in Lake Michigan can be found at http://bit.ly/MichiganSalmon or by watching our video below. #Fishing #Michigan #MiDNR

It's that time of year again...

According to the video from Henrys Landing in Scottville, the Pere Marquette River is gull and they are jumping like crazy.

I fished the Platte last Thursday, it's full of zombies getting beat over the head by chuck and duckers. Unless you're into flossing and snagging, it's pointless.

Pulled a few steelhead in the high banks section of the Au Sable over the weekend right down stream from the Foote Dam. Caught them all on red 8mm beads pegged above a #8 octopus hook drifted under a balsa float. A few people caught Atlantic salmon at the pier. I know the west side is great, but it's awesome on the east side because it isn't shoulder to shoulder.

    it's that time.

I went last weekend on the Pere marquette and it was about as clear as Coffee and the water was at least a foot higher than normal.
    I only landed 2 fish.

Anyone ever try Croton Dam? I heard that it is not as popular and get a good number of fish.

Fished the Platte again last weekend, it was full of degenerates fighting over space and ignoring the hook laws so they could snag. I'd rather spend my time on an empty river fishing small jaws.

anyone ever fish Croton Dam in Newaygo?

I heard it is not busy and gets quite a few salmon in there.

i want to go there maybe next weekend. There is a boat launch just a little ways from the damn, so you can motor from the damn to the mouth of the river
