Honestly, "amid Covid", this topic is tacky, at best.

This is 'merica. We are materialistic and we like our widgets. Pretty much all humans do is "look at me". Makeup, clothes, phones that aren't free, baller houses, sports cars, fancy beer, the list goes on. Hell, look at all the people that are proud of taking *my* tax money to do nothing but fish and smoke pot for a $600 bonus a week.

Unless you're a subsistence farmer/hunter/gatherer you're participating.
