    Default Rebuilding the coupe!

I've had several PM's about my car recently, so I'm starting a new project thread to document it's rebirth. After a rough end to the season a month ago(hitting the wall at Milan), the plan to repair the coupe started immediately. It is tough having to do a job twice, and not by choice, but it's one of the dangers of the racing sport we all often overlook. Luckily I walked away o.k. and the car can be repaired. I'm not one to sit still, so here is a view of my car's road to recovery!

The car was finished in June 2010, and was just the way I had pictured it completed.

I was running Milan's Outlaw Limited Street race in September, and the car got loose just before the 1/8th mile in the left lane. I slid across the right lane in front of Kari Beebe who was able to slow down and avoid me, but I was unable to save the car as it slid into the right wall.

The damage looks much worse than it really is, and luckily none of the suspension mounting points or the frame have any damage, just exterior sheetmetal. The teardown started immediately, and the car is now back to a bare shell. With help from many friends, new parts were rounded up and the body work has been started. Thanks to Mike at Dick's Collision in Tecumseh for setting the car up on the frame rack to check and square up what was needed today! We worked on getting the door fit back onto the right side and repairing the tweaked windshield channel and radiator support. The work will continue next weekend as we get a replacement quarter panel fit to the car. There is still a long way to go, but even I am amazed on how far it's come in just a few weeks.

A HUGE thanks to the many people who have helped so far with finding parts, working on the car, and just plain being good friends, including Mark Motsinger, Hangemhigh(you da man Jim!), Jon Slagle(fyv oh), Dave at Team Z, and Mike at Dick's autobody.
