If you're going for newer school and want color, you ABSOLUTELY cannot go wrong with Andy Kurth. It's a drive (Clio north of Flint) but it's going to be on your body forever. Drive the extra hour.

I saw his work in a magazine, it's awesome, personally I haven't had work done by him, but from the looks of it alone, looks amazing.

I live in rochester also. Ive been to XS and nothing has impressed me. Their attitude, limited amount of artists or their prices. They have never got my business

Will at Atwill Tattoo in Warren. I don't have any ink but i know about 20 people personally have have gone to Will and all love his work. He's an artist first and a tatt guy second.

How does a tattoo place have an attitude? Hessler is like the nicest most smiley guy.

Dude I work with just had a piece done by Marshall, it's pretty wicked.

The last one I had was done by Rob Weir, I think he's at Lance Keller now. Cool guy, does awesome work.
It's my fault for making it look so easy.

I have heard amazing things about Marshall.

Jeff Barker did my cats and my memorial tattoo I had done in the summer. He moved out of state, but comes back to Michigan pretty regular to do work. I remember him saying it was hard for even him to get an appointment with Marshall because he is SO busy and travels a lot for shows and stuff.

Oh and I should have also said I agree with whoever said it also depends what type of work you want done...since some people are better at different things than others.
