    Yep...i ran the same tire wheel combo for years that way..now i have same tire on 10inch rim and it fits.

    it went as far in as to cut through some wires ran to the trunk through were my back seat was

    i had a 28x9 slick on last rear with a 15x8 rim 4.5 back spacing and it was fine

    Is it hitting on both sides? I can't imagine you have the only fox in the world that a 5.5 backspace doesn't work. There has to be something not right here. Shortened axle, or something.

    I wonder if the original b.s is actually 5.5 not 4.5 and the new ones are 6.5 not 5.5. Double check the backspacing. Like Billydroveit said every fox mustang can fit a 5.5 rim-now a 6.5 will fit but it will need some hammer work in the wheelwell-it's what's on mine (15 x 10 w/ 6.5 b.s.)

    x2 on the back space...it is prob a 6 or 6.5....I ran a 28x11.5 on my 8 with 5.5 b.s. and no prob..does it have stock lower control arms? if not you may need to adjust them
