    Default Rust issue 79 hatchback

My car is very clean for it's age has one hole in the floor the size of a quarter rockers are perfect but I've been filling in all of the little holes in the engine compartment and relized quite a bit of rust right above where the k member bolts in my question is could I cut out and repair this or am I pretty much screwed?

It's easy to do if you have the equipment (welder and grinder) Just get it all cut out, shape and cut new metal, install new K member frame bolt spacers, and weld it back shut. We just did two cars like this using square stock as the K frame spacers. The K member takes most of the rigidity up front, so it's not a critical weight bearing section.
