Finally spent some time getting acquainted with the new add-on board for the Raspberry Pi last night. 24-bit/192KHz lossless audio sounds pretty damn good! The albums are huge, usually 2GB to 3GB in size. For comparison purposes, a redbook CD at 16-bit/44KHz encoded in the FLAC format is between 300MB and 600MB. The add-on board also has a pair of microphones, I'm hoping somebody writes some real-time analyzer software so I can EQ in the digital domain and have the Pi compensate for anomalies in room response. This setup is pretty nifty since I can control it through my Nexus 4, Nexus 7, or web browser. Internet radio, subscription services, and locally stored files all play nicely. Now I just need to build/buy a case to put it all in.
