    Default Appliance rant

I bought a house a little while ago and I bought all new appliances... Id like to think they are some pretty nice pieces, and not cheap. My fridge is screwing up and the microwave wont even power up anymore, they are less then 2 years old, im glad I got the 5 year warranty.

Thats my fridge.... The ice maker started not working randomly, I had to go in there and clean the ice out so it could start over. After about a month of that it would thaw/freeze/thaw/freeze so it would just be one big block of ice. Then the other day I hear water running, I walk into the kitchen and water is poring out of the ice maker onto the floor. The thing tried to fill the ice trays that were already full and decided to fill the ice cube holder, a large drawer in my fridge and pour all over my floor. WTF.

Thats my Microwave.... No acting up here... It just fried all the internal components making a bag of popcorn thats all.

The model number is GMH5205XVS just google it for laughs, and stay away from it, lol.

Not to mention my washer and drier problems mentioned in this thread http://www.motownmuscle.com/forums/s...Dryer-opinions

On the upside, I"ll just avoid buying anything you buy. Except for Pot, cause it makes your posts more humorous.

    Jesus, I'd be pissed.

I don't get it, as appliances are NOT cheap.

Now you know why I buy used appliances.

I research & find the best older proven best
ones & pick them up. The newer ones are costing
    more & lasting less!

I use two refrigerators that I purchased for $80 &
$100. They both work great, look good. – and at
    that price, keep me happy!

I've had them for 4+ years now.

I noticed your microwave was a Whirlpool, but couldn't get a marque on your fridge. That freezer I just had poop out on me and my meat was a Whirlpool, 4 yrs old. Coincidence? Dunno.

My folks have a Frigidaire upright freezer they bought in 1962, still works fine, never been down. Must've been back when we built shit here and took pride in it.

No offence to you... But that statement is horse shit... You can't compare higher tech models to simple older models...

I agree and disagree Reiko, but it all comes down to the end user. My mom just wants a machine that works. Washes the clothes, dryes the clothes. Just like she's done for the last 60 years of her life. Me on the other hand want a device that washes, dries, folds, and sorts my clothes all while fluffing them and removing static and pressing the creases. Many people say they don't make them like they used to. Well that's 100% true. in the 50's you got an agitator. That was high tech. It was also extremely low tech. how hard is it to keep a simple agitator from breaking and when it did, fixing it. now we have electric sippers who know when colors are bleeding and can eliminate it. Saying they don't make them like they used to is more of a compliment to the times than a negative connotation compared to the past.

I don't really understand the fancy appliances.. I just want something that does what its supposed to. (maybe I am a bit old school) I don't need an LCD screen on my fridge.. I just need it to keep things cool. I don't need a super fancy high efficiency washer and dryer... my energy bills still seem to be reasonable without all the high tech stuff.
