Default Looking for RE42 trans for 2002 4.0L Grand Cherokee

Hello gentlemen, trying to help a friend find a fix for her GC. Transmission just "went", "slips and does not move". It looks like remanufactured trans go for about $1200! Anyone have a used one around, or know a shop that could do the work for less? This girl is really struggling to make ends meet (ft job + ft school + unpaid internship) and a grand in anything is out of the question

    Thanks!

Well, the 42/44rh/re is a 904 with an overdrive stuck on the back, the 46/47rh/re is the good one, its a 727 with added overdrive, the overdrive is the weak link in these
