All of this radar detector talk makes me wonder one thing. Why hasn't anybody come up with a device that detects the radio waves from the police cars and plot them on a map via GPS on a smartphone? Police radios are always broadcasting between 37 and 38MHz over the airwaves. Contrast that to a police radar which is not always powered on. It could accurately judge the distance of a patrol car in accordance with the signal strength the receiver is detecting. Sort of like war driving for police cars.
