SCAVENGER HUNT! WTB: Misc. 87-93 Mustang Parts
So I'm looking to bring my '93 Feature Car back to original with the intent of showing it in the MCA's (Mustang Club of America) 'Unrestored' class and possibly someday, the 'Thoroughbred' class. 'Unrestored' allows the use of NOS and take off parts (no repro), as long as they are correct for the vehicle.
Thorougbred is the tough one though, NOS or takeoff parts only (no repro) but only if they are 'date code' correct. In my case, the holy grail will likely be finding the correct battery. My car was built May 18, 1993 so parts from Mar-early May 1993 would generally be considered acceptable. Not all parts are dated coded though, so there is some flexibility there.
With that, I was hoping to use this thread to see what you all have in your garages. As I get deeper and deeper into it, I'd like to update it somewhat regularly and any help you all can provide in tracking down parts, is greatly appreciated!
My car is already very original (19,xxx miles) but the former owner did change some things. In other cases I am just looking for parts that are in better condition than I already have. And if you are wondering about the requeset for the Pat Milliken items, I bought my car from a dealer in FL. When Rickety and I flew there to inspect it, we found a Pat Milliken decal in the door jamb, so it was originally a MI car! MCA gives bonus points in these classes (up to 10 points total) for original delivery items (e.g. bill of sale, license plate frame, window sticker, etc) so I am trying to collect as much of the original provenance as possible too.
Here is my hitlist so far but there will be more to come!
Parts Needed for "Unrestored":
- Motorcraft Battery BX-58C (all black in color with 'eye' on the top) <--battery does not need to work, the car would not need to start during judging
- Black Center Console (needs to be in great condition and can not have holes from an aftermarket radio installation) <--My current one is mint, except for the damn radio holes.
- Pat Milliken Key Ring (I know a "green plastic shamrock" exists, others too possibly?)
Upgrades or spares I like to find:
- NOS or VG condition Fiberboard spare tire cover (specific to convertibles, hatchback wont work; not sure about coupe)
- Black Leather 'Articulated' Feature Car Upholstry (I have a wear spot on my drivers side lumbar pad)
- Michelin Pilot XGT-Z4 P225/55ZR/16 (I've found 1, looking for 3 more)
Found, no longer need:
- Pat Milliken License Plate Frame (white with green font)
- 93 Wiper Motor Cover (F2ZU-17C441-AA)
- Air Silencer, 1993 date coded
- NOS front license plate frame and mounting hardware (available on ebay, just listed to see if anyone has one laying around)
- Spark Plugs & Coil Wires, 1993 date coded
- NOS Radio Faceplate
- NOS Chrome Pony Wheel Center Caps
- Spare tire hold down bolt (There are 2 different lengths depending on the spare tire type. A 4 41/64" and 6 7/32" version. I need the shorter one!!)
- H-pipe (part number starts with F0Z)
- NOS or VG condition underhood insulation mat clips (Christmas trees)
- NOS or VG condition Positive and Negative battery cables for 90/93
- NOS or VG condition JK6-911 serpentine belt (would need to be date code correct)
- NOS front air dam (available on ebay, just listed to see if anyone has one laying around)
- White FL-1A oil filter with the word 'Motorcraft' embossed on the end (D9AZ-6731-A)
