Back a few months ago, my air compressor tripped the breaker in the garage while my brother was cleaning our mom's car for Mother's Day. It tripped the breaker and GCFI outlet and hasn't worked right since. I replaced the GFCI as I could hear the old one sizzling right after the circuit was tripped. I'm thinking there's a ground fault somewhere because any time a switch or outlet bracket touches the metal housing, it trips and the power goes out again. This never happened prior to the breaker being overloaded. Last night, I hit the switch for the flood lights on the garage and the breaker was tripped once again. Any idea where the ground fault could be? Where should I start looking?
