I used the mouth guard deal about 6 years ago to help with snoring. It works, but your teeth feel loose and kind of fucked up because of it pulling your lower jaw forward. I ended up getting surgery done on my nose and my tonsils out, and it did the trick.

Wow! That is very high pressure, I know this because that is what
    I used to have. Average is 10 over 5. When I had 23 over 17 I also
had what is called a "back up rate" of 15.

I went & got a new sleep study done & reduced mine to 17 over 10,
& no back-up-rate, MUCH nicer now!

Do you also have added O2 along with yours?

PM Dr. Teeth on this site, he knows all about this stuff. And share it with us because I toss & turn so my mask never stays on at night. So I gave up on wearing it and had surgery and that seemed to help a lot.

I've thought about the surgery but I dunno if I feel like going through that. Can you guys provide some details on your surgery? Thanks.

Did the wizard ever get back to you about that brain?????

Everyone isn’t going to be a candidate for surgery.
Losing weight is probably the best single thing
one can do – it has helped me a lot.

One of the Nurses at U of M was just telling me that
her dad lost 60 pounds (got himself just under 200 lbs)
and he got completely off of his BiPap. Again, everyone
isn’t the same, but getting healthy & in good shape enough
to get off of BiPap is my goal.

That's where I'm at right now. Was at 233 when I started. Lost about 18lbs so far. Hoping to get to 200lbs by May/ 2015.

Weight isn't always an issue. My uvula was so long it blocked my airway when I laid down at night. So I had it removed along with my tonsils last fall. The pain only went as high as 4 on a scale of 10, with 10 being the kidneys stones that had me crawling on the floor.

What type of recovery did you have? Not much worse than getting your tonsils out?

They did tonsils & uvula, it wasn't near as bad as everyone said it would be. Took a week off work. the first day or two when I had the surgery painkiller still in me wasn't bad, days 3-4 were a little worse, and by day 5 I was doing fairly well. Eating mashed potatoes, applesauce, scrambled eggs by the end of day two.

If I can find my follow up sleep study to find the improvment I will post it here, but since I had the studies done at two different sleep centers the reports are a bit different. They said I also suffer from RLS, or restless leg syndrome so I have meds for that.

I am about 6'2ish", 200 lbs and between 10-17 % body fat depending on who measured me, which is good for a guy over 50 years old.

(I did read one guy lost most of his gag reflex after having his uvual removed and was going see if he could get his wife to have the same surgery :-)
