Default So, hit and run, what happens?

Anybody experience this before? Guy slid down the side of my car with his pickup. He tried to weasel around me on the edge of the curb lane while I was trying to make a right. Then just took off running. Car is not bad really, broke mirror off, smashed up the door a bit.
Made a report, got the plate number and type of vehicle.
Do the police actually got check it out? Officer said the plate was current and legit.

    Anyone?

Owner might get a ticket. You will get a mini-tort up to $1000 and your insurance will have to cover the rest.

No personal injuries really, just pissed.
Literally just put tires on the car, was driving home.
Really don't want to have to pay deductible and deal with insurance though, just a headache.
