Maybe look into a vinyl wrap color change? It will give you a color change that doesn't cost as much, but I don't know what the standard procedure is with door jambs, engine bay with wraps though.

My advice is leave it the way it is and drive it? The car looks awesome the way it is, and you could buy another car like it for the price of the paint job. Be proud and happy with what you have and make other investments. Too many people out there with 50k into a car worth 20k. Oh yeah black is better!

What's the average price for a good overall but keeping the same color?

You are still looking at 7k unless you know someone or are skimping on work by tape lines etc. Paint is infinitely expensive

Depends on the work needed. The above camaro color changed to yellow delivered with it tore down you would be around 6-7k from my garage. That's everything painted. Sanded and polished.

What about three stage colors, candies, something from HOK or equivalent? Too expensive or not worth the money?

Is it hard to find someone who is willing to do it or will do it right?

I'm with CruzinCobra. Look in wraps if you really want to change the color. Otherwise just drive it as-is. No sense in putting $7k into painting a car that's only worth a little more than that.

The factory paint is scuffed up and light scratched beyond what would ever buff out. It just sat in the garage a lot and was not taken care of. I have considered a wrap but for the price I don't think they last all that long. Maybe I'm not educated on wraps but it seems really expensive for something that is disposable.

It's probably the photo I posted but the car isn't your everyday 4th gen. It put down nearly 700RWHP on 93 octane and low boost - most stuff you can think of to mod has been modded and with all top of the line stuff (BS3, AMS-2000, 4L80E, Moser 9", HREs...). There's more things that could be modded but the condition of the paint just really brings down the rest of the car. Not saying it's worth a lot but it's worth a lot to me and I intend to keep it.
