It might bring more buyers out of the woodwork. Oddball custom cars are becoming a bigger craze due to the huge $$$$ in all of the traditional hotrods and muscle cars.

I've been on the fence about it, but I need to get it done. If it doesn't sell I have some plans for the roof, but still nothing crazy like the Imperial. Besides, it has a roof rack and stainless strips that cover 3/4 of the roof anyway. I don't really WANT to sell it, so my heart won't be broken if I keep it. I should be done with most of the paint work by the end of the weekend.
I used to be 'with it'. Then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm 'with' isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me.......

That beetle is bad ass! There is a blue one that runs up at silver lake that is wild. Looks like a blast.

Make sure you freshen up the wax job under there while it's apart.

My long term project is a 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle, which I bought as a rust-free roller from California in 1994. It was my 1st old car, and I choose a VW because they were easy to work on and parts were dirt cheap (at the time). It got it running with junkyard parts (this was back when junkyards were still littered with Beetles) and used it as a summer driver. Between 1994-2004, I slowly modified it into the period-correct Cal-Look car you see below while keeping it as a summer driver the whole time. I've held onto it because of emotional attachment, and it does not take up much floor space.

Nothing is keeping it off the road at this point other than my lack of free time.

This project car has never been "done": my next things to do are listed below in order of priority.
Recover the seats (finished in June)
Install a new radio with USB input (Finished in September)
    Headliner repairs (finished in June)
Have paint-less dent removal done to remove some of the dings (366k miles, mostly original paint) (update, done in July)
Install a used fuse box (mine is in rough shape)
Hella H4 headlights with LED bulbs
Replace the remote oil cooler lines, as they are starting to weep
Install a Mallory box that I've had for 8 years (not sure it needs it)
Install an OE front bumper, as I have re-installed the OE turn signals since these pictures were taken.
Install new running boards, as mine are beyond patina and just looking junky.

Love those cars. Every time I go to st Clair fishing I pass a house with a nice green one in the driveway. Keep telling my buddy If he ever sees it for sale to tell me
