This is actual events, I wish I had recorded this, but when I called to verify funds on a personal check I had received, I wasn't expecting this:
Hello, thank you for calling bank of America, this is xxxxxx, how may I assist you today. I said I need to verify funds on a check and gave her the account # and dollar amount. Then she asked, what do I need? slightly confused, I said I need to verify funds on this check I had received. So she replies with, Sir you have to axe a yes or no question. So I politely said, I apologize, I am not looking for an axe, but I am wanting to know if funds are available. SO, she says again, Sir, you have to axe a yes or no question. She is on speaker phone and Daniel my co-worker is laughing in the background and I am still being serious and I reply, no thank you, I don’t need an axe, but I want to know if funds are available on the check your customer wrote me or not? SO again, she says, Sir you need to axe me a yes or no question. So again, I am being polite and serious. I am not sure why you are offering me an axe but are the funds available or no? So this time she says “YES, have a nice day” and hung up. LOL
That made my morning! I was more shocked that I actually got a real live person, but this was fun
