Default Intercooler efficiency via fin density.

Anybody able to clue me in? I've read a bit about the external fin density and design. Canting of external fins provides better cooler capability. Will a lesser internal fin density with no canting result in decreased efficiency ?

I'd rather not manipulate the ic fins unless the ic is not sized properly due to space limitations. If possible, build a box for a better cooling capability and maybe reposition the complete ic unit to grab air flow instead of canting. Or spray the ic externally to cool it.
