Fairly common for a Texas car. They maybe rust-free, but they do
    get sun-baked, hence paint-fade / peel.

Ye, especially from that era. Back in the day I had an '84 Monte Carlo that came from the California desert, rust free but that clear coat was messed up beyond belief from baking in the sun.

That's GM 80's paint. They did that in Michigan too.

But a car with 13k mikes, not modified, obviously meant to be a 2nd, probably 3rd car. Hard to believe it was stored outside.

50k miles..... ok. It was a daily driver for 4-5 years. But fishy to me at 13k

Who knows, someone may have vandalized it, keyed it etc..... there are assholes out there that will do that.

You make a good point. This is why I try to buy from the original
owner, to know & hopefully have proof of the cars history.

    ^^^^ Wow and........WOW!

Reminds me when I was in high school (early 1980's)
my best friend knew a family that the grandfather bought
the grandson a brand new Z28 for his high school graduation
    gift.

The grandson wasn't even a year old when he bought it. Ya, gramps
was thinking. How cool to receive a new, 18 year old Z28 for a first car.
