Default Problems with Digital/Optical to Analog audio adapter

Im trying to setup a Portta PETDTAP Digital Coax and Optical Toslink to Analog Audio Converter on my Basement to TV to connect a Samsung Plasma which only has a digital audio out to my vintage pioneer receiver. I know all the inputs on the receiver worked the last time I had it hooked up(Cut the cord on cable a few months ago) but when I hook it up all I get is a static clicking type noise. Anyone have any ideas as to if its the Optical cable or digital converter or something else?

    Thanks
    Jeremy

Try setting the digital output on your TV to PCM or LPCM. Being that it's a stereo converter, it doesn't support codecs like Dolby Digital or any sort of surround enhancements.

I went through every menu I could find and cant find any that allows changing the digital output. I found one for surround sound and turned it off but that's it. The TV is about 8 years old.

    Thanks
