Default 1942 Chrysler New Yorker project thread

So I texted my buddy Jerry to see if he had an 8 3/4" axle he wanted to sell me for my 48 Dodge, and I wound up with this too hahaha. Texas car, no rot, just a soft trunk floor. Plan is get it running & driving pretty much as is. The guy who owned it before Jerry pulled the fenders & primed them, which sucks for me because l love the original paint. This is pretty much how I got it

All the parts are there except the gas tank, radiator, and crank pulley.
I used to be 'with it'. Then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm 'with' isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me.......

It sat apart with the pistons out & head off for 25 years for a re-ring job that never happened. Fortunately, everything was in ok shape, I got a set of rings and a gasket set with the car. As I got it

Got some cool vintage parts with it

I ball honed the bores, pulled the valves, cleaned, ground & lapped them.
Adjusted the valves, amidst years of crud & shit
I used to be 'with it'. Then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm 'with' isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me.......

And I got it running on its own Sunday. I had to take apart the fuel pump & clean it, the carb is NOS, but still needs a rebuild, but it runs!!!!!

I'm shooting for the basement at Autorama. Gotta check registration, it might already be full down there

Fortunately it came with extra rear fenders I'm going to use.
