Default Let wisdom reign down upon thee...... F-250 super duty

I been hunting a 250/350 for a little bit with the help of a couple members

Looking for value I guess. From a wider range

My truck budget is lowish. But it needs to be a pick up, otherwise I'd be at Raj's place with $3200

    Here's craigslist ad

    https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/c...205667494.html

I took it for a ride. Body is exceptionally clean for 300k miles, interior as well other than the headliner is shot. Small tear in drivers cushion, common. Little rot on the inside of doors, but nothing showing outside yet. Drivers wheel wells are good. Passenger bed wheel well is starting to bubble. Common and actually impressive for 300k miles. Tires are dry rotted,it needs shocks all around and the steering is off center slightly. I got a guy for all that at a discount :-D
It passes the 2 big 6.0 tests with awesome results, better than trucks I looked at with under 150k miles

Eot/ect delta is 1-3degrees when up to temp. Most are near 8-9. 15 being the max according to ford. That's when the oil cooler is plugged and the heads are about to lift.

Completely stock, egr still intact, 300k passes rudimentary blow by test as well. Trans was at 160-163 after a few hard runs when warmed.

As you see he's asking 8500 which I feel is high for the miles.

What's a "non-craigslist-dick" offer? But yet Reasonable for me. The guy is pretty nice and seems honest.

I don't care about color, tan is fine, I prefer other colors but can't be picky with used work trucks. I've had good luck with the 6.0. I know some of you would rather lick the sweat off a dead mans balls over drive a 6.0....... but Im asking for advise.

Get an estimate for correcting the rust, then subtract that cost from the truck price to make an offer?

If you used that as a gauge, the guy would owe Anthony some money....

Did he say how long he has owned it? Since you looked at it he must have lowered the price because it now says $8000.00. His ad says it was edited 6 hours ago. Offer $7200.00. He will probably come back at $7500.00. His ad is 30 days old.

Miles are crazy but it's a good looking truck for the year/miles. I would personally save a bit longer and get a bigger budget to work with. I would have trouble buying any vehicle with 300K on it.

    On one hand KBB says...

    Trade in; $6,000.

    Private Party; $7,600.

    On the other hand,

Its been for sale for a month...

KBB is only a guide - not a gospel.

If I were "sold on it", I'd offer the $6,000.

It is a bit of a odd ball. Hard to say what its value is.
One of those, "its worth whatever someone will pay for it".

That is my 2 cents (probably all its worth )

I haven't looked at a ton of diesels but that doesn't seem that far off base from what I have seen. I know you are very picky and if you can live with the cosmetic flaws start a little lower than what it's worth to you. What have you got to lose? You have to be comfortable with the deal.

Ha. I was gonna go 5k since it's been sitting over a month and he bought another truck already.

Beds are 1500-2k of any color. Then paint. But bed isn't rotted out as it sits.
