For anyone that enjoyed that M5 and the pre Chris Bangle cars, this is a nice coffee table book. Those 3 to 5 liter V8s of the 1990s were sweet revving, as long as the Nikasil bore coating didn't peel off!

I love e39s what are we talking about here?
I got a new history book on the cars as an early Christmas present (the hot button above), and it reminded me about the amazing e39 M5 which I had forgotten about. It should be noted that the e39 V8s didn't have the bore coating problem, which was like what happened to the Chevy Vega.
Motorweek tested the e39 M5 and said it was the greatest sport sedan of all time. I think that statement still stands, even though faster cars have come since then. I put there video link below:

IMO just the 540 6 speed is pretty good, my friend had a cold air, cat back and tune and it would walk away from my M3. Ive had 2 540s in the past, and I still have a 528 wagon. One of my buddies has 2 E39's with ls swaps and sells the kits.
Right now he is working on an E53 converted to RWD, with 6.0/4l80 and a turbo.

want to sell the wagon?
Not an E39, which is a great car, but how about the F90 M5!? First AWD M5, twin-turbo V8, 0-62 in 3.4 seconds, it’s an amazing car.
I know a lot of people say the F platform is just not as good as the E but it is still a real impressive car.
My personal favorite M5 is the E60 V10 M5.
