Default Any recommendations for a shop to diagnose 2002 mustang gt.

Hearing some engine noise on start up and a slight knocking Above 55mph. The knocking is not constant but noticeable with light throttle above 55mph. Then goes away when throttle is released. Uses some oil only smokes slightly when leaving a light but not to noticeable and happens randomly. Looking for a cylinder leak down to be run to find the state of my rings and valve train. Also a diagnosis of a slight hesitation or misfire. 2002 mustang gt.

What is the condition of the oil? Does it look like dancer's sink drain (glitter) ?
Check for a loose spark plugs?
    Cracked exhaust manifold?

No advice on a shop but I'm thinking piston slap or worn timing chain/guides

Can i replace the guides without removing the chain and keep proper timing alignment?

Gonna cut the filter in a few days hopefully no glitter! New bbk shorties within 1 1/2y hope no cracks. going to inspect manifolds when retrieving filter.

I have never done guides without doing chains at the same time. I suppose it can be done but if the guides are worn the chain is probably worn as well.

You wont see much, if any metal in the oil. The cylinder bores can become egg-shaped and the pistons will slap when cold.
