The Facebook groups are your best bet. I do not like the Traxxas forum either.

E bay I thought was pretty good. 6s or 8s x maxx goes for good money on there from what I've seen. You just gotta start the bidding low. The 6s usually sells around 5-600 used, and the 8s goes a little higher, but not by much. The way I beat on mine, it's not worth the 900 I paid anymore anyways.
