    Default Joe P., Anthony, Ryan I need some help!

    I thought I had an ignition system issue on my car, but it turned out to be much more than that. I was trying to get my timing set and the car just would not stay running. I noticed the secondary’s weren’t squirting at all. Even pushing on the pump arm they were not working.

    Quick fuel system overview. The car has a Magnafuel QuickStar 275 pump that recirculates to the cell, -8 line from the pump to the regulator block and two lines to each side of the carb. The second regulator has the nitrous system.

    So after seeing the secondary were not working, I decided to pull the carb (AED Systems custom 820cfm) to give it a quick cleaning. When I took my fuel lines off I found this long black string of crud behind the fitting going into the rear bowl. The front had a small piece, but not as bad as the rear.

    I tore down the carb and this is what I found;

    WTF!!

    The cell is clean, so breakdown of fuel cell foam is occurring, plus the pump recirculating would have filled the cell with shit if it were the pump. I’ve been running 110 unleaded rec fuel in it for the last few years, but I think it may have eaten my fuel lines from the inside out.

    There looks to be a waterline on my metering blocks too? Any thoughts?

    Time for new lines, that race fuel is some hard core stuff. Might want to consider running it dry for storage after the repairs .

    It’s bizarre how it ate into the metering blocks. The powervalve is destroyed too.

    How are you holding that cup sideways without the fuel running out?

    I sent you another PM Chris, but I think these guys nailed it already. Also, get rid of the fuel cell foam before it's next.

    Absolutely

    What brand of line was it?

    I’ve seen jegs brand break down quick.

    That black strand in first picture will get cut out of the line when installing say a jegs fitting on aeroquip line or racepartssolutions fittings on earls.
    Just examples. ID doesn’t always match. Fitting style too. Don’t re use a non reusable fitting, even though it’s possible annnnnnnd I’ve done it...... don’t do it

    A friend had the fuel cell foam degrade/melt over time too. Caused all sorts of damage, basically had to clean and replace everything. Hope you get it all figured out!
